The Anniversary

June 10, 2017

Yesterday, marked the sixth anniversary of the judgment being handed down in Steven’s case.

Buried in the election aftermath, two organisations marked the anniversary.

The Human Rights organisation, Rights Info, followed me and Steven around for two days and produced a short film. Many thanks to Jem, Jack and Michael for putting it all together:

I was approached by Community Care magazine to write an article about where we’re at now and came up with this:

We marked the anniversary in fine style in Cowley. Steven’s old learning disability nurse, David, who worked with him 10 years ago popped in with some beers and chocolates. The support workers cooked a fine barbecue lunch. Then later, Jayne and little Henry came round and we christened the pool.

The day was normal and laid back but exactly the sort of life that Steven likes to lead.

  1. Beautiful film, the joy of home. Steven’s kitchen sink, his stuff arranged to his liking. Comforts we all cling to. Happy Anniversary.
